The 78 Chicago - Construction is Finally Starting

After years of renderings and speculation, we are finally seeing actual movement at The 78. While many of Chicago’s megadevelopments have struggled to get off the drawing board, this update shows the first real signs of site preparation and infrastructure work on this 62-acre South Loop site. This project has faced plenty of skepticism, but as a digital archivist for Chicago’s skyline, I’m documenting the transition from "empty lot" to active construction. Whether it becomes the new Discovery Partners Institute or a future stadium site, the dirt is finally moving.
