A Mother's Prayer as Your Child Leaves Home for College - Psalm 121

Behind it, a bag half-filled, a shelf going bare, a child who is almost gone. You are so proud of them you could burst, and so afraid you can hardly breathe. And underneath all of it, the question that follows you from room to room — did I do enough? Wherever this hour found you — morning, afternoon, or late at night — stay here. This prayer is for you. In 12 minutes, I carry 3 specific things before the Father: 1. The fear of who your child becomes when you are no longer there to watch. 2. The grief of the quiet house — and who you are when no one needs you every day. 3. The doubt that whispers you did not do enough. Scripture says in Deuteronomy 31:6 — "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." Moses said it to a people standing at the edge of a land he could not enter with them. The promise was never "you are strong enough." The promise was "He goes with you." Mother, that word is for your child too — into every place you cannot follow. We then declare 7 things over you and over the child you are sending out — declarations, not requests.
