The modern Circum-Baikal Railway (CBZhD) is a partially preserved branch of the 260-kilometer Trans-Baikal Railway, built in the early 20th century, from Innokentyevskaya Station (now Irkutsk-Sortirovochny) to Mysovaya Station (now the town of Babushkin in the Republic of Buryatia). After the railway was commissioned directly across the Olkhinskoye Plateau and the construction of the Irkutsk Hydroelectric Power Station, part of the route was dismantled. After this, this section of the railway became a dead-end road with little traffic, and later became a tourist destination. Our journey takes five days and covers almost 100 km.
