This time, we hiked a route starting from Hokodate, via the Senshadani course, and descending the outer rim of the caldera overlooking Shinzan. I started during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was confident in my health and physical fitness, but after spending my 40s without much exercise, my weight increased, and I thought, "This might be bad..." so I started mountain climbing. Once I started, I enjoyed it so much that I became hooked. I was confident in my physical strength and athletic ability, but after climbing a mountain, my knees were shaking after about an hour. For about a year, I would have such severe muscle pain the day after climbing that I could barely walk, but now I rarely experience muscle pain.
