Trekking 124 kms To Kanchenjunga Base Camp In Nepal 🇳🇵

Completed the Kanchenjunga north basecamp trek independently in April 2022. Below are some of the details of the trek which may be useful for people planning to do it. Permit - Can be done from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Tapethok or Ghunsa. Cost NPR 500 for Indian nationals. Food / Stay - Complete trek can be done by staying and eating in tea houses. If staying in Pang Pema, then recommend to carry a sleeping bag. Else sleeping bag and mat are not required. Travel - Take a bus from Siliguri/NJP/Bagdogra to Panitanki. Cross the border on foot. Walk to Kakarbitta bus stop and take a bus to Birtamode. Jump on to a shared jeep to Phidim or Taplejung (only before 8AM). From Taplejung take a shared jeep to Sekhatum, the last road head. While returning start early at Amjilosa and reach Sekhatum by 8 AM to catch the return jeep to Taplejung. You can save a day by doing this. It takes 2 weeks to do this trek. Increase by 1 week to do the south basecamp also. There is a trail from Toronton to Ranipul now cutting shot the long old trail. Guide - Recommended to take a guide. However this trek can be done independently. Its a remote area and there is not phone after Ghunsa. Trail is well defined.
