Ms. Nipawan, from Lam Plai Mas district, Buriram province, burst into tears in front of a bank after learning she didn't meet the criteria for the 2026 state welfare card. She even prayed to a revered monk, but to no avail. She even begged the Prime Minister, "Please help me!" Ms. Nipawan was saddened, but many others were relieved to learn they had passed. The majority of those who didn't meet the criteria did so because they owned more cars and motorcycles than the specified limit. Some complained that their vehicles were old, second-hand, purchased for their livelihoods, and they weren't wealthy. Our news team, who visited a Krung Thai Bank in Nong Chok district, spoke with many people checking their eligibility. Some even showed us their damaged vehicles and expressed their sadness, saying they had always received the state welfare card before but were now denied. Those who passed the criteria were overcome with emotion, some crying tears of joy. Thank you to the government for the help, because 300 baht is worth a lot. The problems faced by those who did not qualify included issues with car and motorcycle ownership, some misunderstanding the income requirement (which must not exceed 100,000 baht per year), and some citing credit bureau issues as reasons for ineligibility (the amount of which may need to be considered). Those who qualified and are repeat recipients can receive the assistance without further verification and can start using their benefits from August 1st onwards. Those who are receiving benefits for the first time must verify their identity from tomorrow (July 18th) until January 12th, 2027, and can begin using their benefits from October 1st, 2026.
