In 1949 America Owned 92% of the World's Bathtubs. A Film Was Made About This.

In 1949 Harding College Arkansas sponsored an animated film introducing Joe — the king of the world's workers. Joe earned more than any other worker on earth because of capital investment, competitive industry, and access to expensive machinery. His grandfather worked 69 hours a week with hand tools and generated one-tenth of a horsepower. Americans owned 92% of the world's bathtubs. The film covered this at length. Joe agreed with all of it. This is the sixth film in the channel's accidental series on Cold War era American ideology. Previously in America explores the films, footage, and ideas that shaped everyday American life — sourced entirely from public archives.
