We hiked in the foothills of the Makio-san area in Izumi City, Osaka Prefecture. This time, we started from the Sogawa district and hiked a circular route around Takahata-yama and Kanzako-yama. Along the way, we enjoyed sights such as Zabuton-iwa (cushion rock), Panorama Bench, and Kanzako-yama Observation Rock. It was a hike that allowed us to experience both the joys and challenges of foothills. I had previously hiked a circular route in this mountain area with Mandara-iwa as our goal. Even then, we encountered the difficulties of foothills, such as faint trails. However, even in such places, finding nice benches and signs made us feel the warmth of human care, which was very welcome. In places where you feel lonely, suddenly encountering a well-maintained area feels like an oasis. This time, our first target was Zabuton-iwa, but it was an extremely steep climb. Moreover, the ground was soft because not many people use it... Broken branches blocked the path, making it difficult to pass... The trail was quite tense throughout. And towards the end, we climbed and descended Mount Kanzako, slipping and sliding all the way. It's a somewhat dangerous and challenging route, but the nice signs along the way are interesting. We used GPS and other devices to navigate the route this time. The faint footprints made it difficult. Perhaps it would be easier to follow if more people used it. But there were some interesting sights along the way, such as the viewpoint rock, which made it enjoyable. A quiet walk through the countryside.
