Gobao X1P im ersten Test: Motor + CVT-Getriebe in einem – 80 % Akku in 20 Minuten!

At Eurobike we got our first ride on the Gobao X1P – and the initial impression is seriously promising. This system combines the drive motor and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) in a single housing: no derailleur, no cassette, no chain wear. The X1P delivers 150 Nm of torque, 1,500 W peak power and a 500 % gear range – combinable with a Gates belt drive for a completely maintenance-free setup. Shifting happens steplessly and under full load, without any noticeable jolt. What's missing: acoustic feedback when changing gears – an unfamiliar feeling that takes some getting used to. Then there's the charging story: with a 30-amp charging current, the 750 Wh battery is said to go from 10 to 80 % in just 20 minutes. For comparison – most systems charge at a maximum of 6–12 amps.
