Doenças no Galinheiro prevenção e tratamento

Health is one of the main factors for the success of poultry farming, whether in commercial systems or in the raising of free-range chickens. Diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, and other infectious agents can cause high mortality, a drop in egg production, reduced weight gain, and economic losses. Experts point out that biosecurity measures, vaccination, and constant monitoring of the flock are the main tools to keep birds healthy and prevent the spread of diseases. According to the publication "Poultry Health," from the Veterinary School of UFMG, prevention is more efficient and economical than treating outbreaks. Among the most important diseases is avian influenza, considered a notifiable disease. Caused by influenza A virus, it can cause serious respiratory problems, reduced egg production, edema, neurological changes, and high mortality, depending on the viral strain. Another disease of great relevance is Newcastle disease, also viral and highly contagious. The main clinical signs include respiratory difficulties, diarrhea, nervous changes, torticollis, tremors, and a drop in egg production. Like avian influenza, it is a notifiable disease due to its potential to cause significant losses to the production chain. During a visit to Sítio Capim Moiado, journalist Francys de Oliveira, an agronomy student, accompanied agricultural engineer and professor Fabrício Andrade on a mission: to control and prevent respiratory diseases in the farm's birds.
