Corn cultivation occupies a prominent position among agricultural activities in Brazil. Among the reasons are its cultivation on most rural properties and its production value; corn is used as a crop, surpassed only by soybeans. The cereal is, at the same time, an important product and a prominent input (raw material) for poultry, swine, cattle and other animal breeders, with a major share of feed. Because it is a cosmopolitan crop, corn is produced from North to South of Brazil. This diversity is associated with a great diversity in relation to technologies and inputs, planting times (main crop/second crop...), purposes of use (grain, green, special, silage, popcorn, ...) and socioeconomic profiles of the producer. Once the production system is defined, several factors are important for a quality and profitable corn crop. Journalist Francys de Oliveira, an agronomy student, is expanding his knowledge at Sítio Capim Moiado, with agronomist Fabrício Andrade. Throughout these field days, he shares with us some situations that rural producers face in their daily lives. This time the topic is corn!
