Die Wahrheit über das Leben in GEORGIEN als Deutscher

In my last video, I introduced you to Alex – the German expat living in Poti, Georgia. You can learn more about life in Georgia and the fascinating port city of Poti in this video! I traveled to Poti by bus, which is located only about 70 km north of Batumi. The city has just under 40,000 inhabitants, over 90% of whom are ethnic Georgians, and almost all of whom belong to the Georgian Orthodox Church. ⚓ Economy instead of beach tourism As one of Georgia's most important economic centers, Poti attracts fewer beachgoers than Batumi – tourism plays a rather minor role here, even though the adjacent Kolkheti National Park delights nature lovers. The economic heart of the city is the port of Poti, the country's most important seaport and a central hub for international trade between Central Asia and Europe. Whether logistics, shipping, customs, or transport – most jobs depend directly or indirectly on the port. This is complemented by the Free Industrial Zone (FIZ), a tax-advantaged special economic zone for electronics, textiles, and chemicals. Poti also holds important national licenses for industrial fishing in the Black Sea and has large terminals for raw materials such as manganese, oil, and scrap metal. 🏛️ Traces of Antiquity The city is also historically fascinating: its origins date back over 2,500 years. Poti is considered the successor to the Greek colony of Phasis – the place where, according to legend, Jason and his Argonauts landed to steal the Golden Fleece. 📍 The main sights in Poti: Poti Cathedral: A building constructed in 1906, modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. Kolkheti National Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site! This marsh and wetland area is especially popular with naturalists and birdwatchers. Lake Paliastomi: Part of the national park. Remains of the ancient city of Phasis have even been discovered on its lakebed. Poti Lighthouse: Built in 1864, it is one of the oldest navigational structures in the entire Black Sea basin. Nikolajzi Tower: A striking, five-story tower from the 19th century. 📸 Follow me on Instagram for more impressions:   / phuongreisetagebuch   And on Facebook:   / phuongreisetagebuch   If you'd like to support me, the best way is here: 👉 PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/phuon... ☕️ Buy Me a Coffee (10% fee): https://buymeacoffee.com/phuongreiset... 🎉 Directly via YouTube Super Like/Sticker (30% fee) 🎉 Become a channel member:    / @phuongreisetagebuch   ✍️ You can find my teacher's language courses on her website: https://silkestoffel.de If you book through my Instagram account or email, you'll receive a 10% discount.
