Glouestershire Warwickshire Railway 'Cotswolds Festival of Steam Gala' 23/05/2026

A visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway 'Cotswolds Festival of Steam Gala' during the late bank holiday from the 23rd to 25th May with eight locos plus diesel railcar on intensive timetable working. The stars in action over the three day event was Great Eastern Railway 209 Class 'Coffeepot' tank No.229 was on shunting demonstration at Winchcombe as well hauling a round trip to & from Toddington. Southern Railway 'West Country' Class No.34070 "Manston" (not featured in this video) was visiting the railway on-loan from the Swanage Railway, Caledonian Railway 439 Class No.15198 visiting from the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway was makes a return visit to the railway since 2019 and British Railways Standard Class 2MT No.78022 was visiting the railway away from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. However, one mystery visitor to the gala was in the form of newly overhauled London, Midland & Scottish Railway Class 5MT ‘Black Five’ No.45110 was returned to steam for the first time since 2008. The five visitors were joined three of the lines home fleet of two Great Western Railway 2-8-0s 2800 Class No.2807, 2884 Class No.3850 and ‘Grange’ Class No.6880 “Betton Grange”. The eight steam locos were joined by Great Western Railway diesel railcar No.22 visiting on-loan from Didcot Railway Centre. Filmed on Saturday 23rd May 2026.
