LA ADUANA NACIONAL ESTARÍA ENVUELTA EN UN NIDO DE CORRUPCIÓN

The National Customs Service faces multiple allegations of corruption in contracting and administrative management. The institution's interim president reported that personnel appointments were detected without the involvement of the top executive or the general management, which she described as "use and abuse" in the hiring process. The lack of internal regulations aligned with the Civil Service was also evident. Minister Nardy Suxo added that the board of directors failed in its duties by allowing potential corruption offenses, noting that several directors had held their positions for more than 10 years. The investigations target the administration of former president Wilfredo Vargas and reveal millions of dollars in financial losses. According to official reports, there is evidence of corruption against Vargas and his general advisor, Félix Torrico Negrete. Simultaneously, the Vice Ministry of Transparency filed a complaint against former president Karina Serrudo for irregularities in the purchase of land and construction of the Customs office in Tarija, alleging damages of 10 million bolivianos due to overpricing and a smaller surface area than contracted. In addition, in 2025, Customs registered 118 complaints against officials and regarding customs procedures.
