FELCN SECUESTRA 7 CARGAMENTOS DE MADERA CON DESTINO A EEUU, REINO UNIDO, BRASIL Y URUGUAY

Seven timber trucks were seized in 72 hours. The Special Force for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking (FELCN) preventively seized shipments destined for Uruguay, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Brazil after detecting positive results in manual inspections between June 23 and 25. The operations were carried out in Tambo Quemado-Pisiga, Yacuiba, and Arroyo Concepción-Puerto Suárez-Corumbá, in coordination with the National Customs Service, the DEA, the Brazilian Federal Police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office. The timber route is under international scrutiny. The seizures come after the discovery of drugs impregnated in Bolivian exports detected in Chile and Brazil. The samples were sent to the FELCN's CITESC (Center for Technological and Scientific Analysis), the IDIF (Institute of Forensic Investigations), and laboratories in the United States for technical and scientific analysis. Prosecutor Fabiola Paco confirmed that controls have been reinforced on all logging routes while an investigation is underway to determine if drug trafficking organizations used this sector to ship illicit substances abroad.
