Dorset Wood: The Battle of Hatterath
Dorset Wood: The Battle of Hatterath With Christopher Jary Part of our Battle of Aachen series • Battle of Aachen And our Battles for Netherlands, Belgium and Germany series • Battles for Netherlands, Belgium and Germany Also part of our 80th Anniversary Series • 80th Anniversary Special Although seen as a primarily American campaign, 25 miles north of Aachen is Geilenkirchen near the Dutch/German border. In November after the city of Aachen had fallen to US forces, Operation Clipper was launched. It was an Allied offensive by the British XXX Corps (including the US 84th Infantry Division) to reduce the Geilenkirchen salient. One of the dramatic stories from this offensive occurred in Hatterath in a wooded area known to this day as Dorset Wood. Christopher Jary returns to talk about the men involved. Christopher Jary is a military historian and author of 15 books. He is a volunteer at the Keep Military Museum. https://www.keepmilitarymuseum.org/ / @thekeepmilitarymuseum Other WW2TV shows with Christopher Jary Market Garden: In the footsteps of the Dorsets https://youtube.com/live/EsZh7a9hnec Yells, Bells and Smells; Tommies in the Siege of Malta 1940-43 https://youtube.com/live/P-ksmak9qm4 Roy's Boys: 231 Brigade in Sicily 1943 https://www.youtube.com/live/vWaxefln...
