She has played an important role in the Pakistani drama industry since the 1980s and is considered one of the most popular actresses of the 1980s and 1990s. She appeared in several classic PTV dramas including Kasak, Hazaron Raaste, Sirriyan, Footpath Ki Ghaas, Tapish, and Badaltey Mausam. In later years, she also acted in popular dramas such as Khuda Aur Muhabbat Season 3, Uraan, Gul-e-Rana, and Do Bol. Rubina Ashraf was born on 9 November 1960 in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her education from the University of Lahore and graduated with a degree in graphic designing. She began her acting career in 1980 when she visited the PTV Lahore Centre with her friends. During this visit, renowned actress Sahira Kazmi cast her in a drama, which marked the beginning of her professional journey. After that, she appeared in several successful PTV dramas including Pas-e-Aaina, Tapish, Badaltey Mausam, Kasak, Footpath Ki Ghaas, and Sirriyan. Along with acting, Rubina Ashraf also established herself as a successful drama director. She directed several well-received dramas including Vaani in 2008, followed by Surkh Chandni, Ek Adh Hafta, Tarazoo, and Tere Siwa. She later directed Shikwa in 2014, and in 2020, she directed the hit drama Ruswai, which gained widespread popularity and critical appreciation.
