Waseem Abbas (born 9 September 1960) is a Pakistani television, stage and film actor, screenwriter and director. He is widely recognized for his performances in popular television dramas aired on Pakistan Television (PTV) and other channels, including Samundar, Raat, Ashiyana, Family Front (which he also directed), Landa Bazar, and Din. He was born in Lahore, Punjab, into a well-known artistic family. He is the son of the famous singer, actor, and director Inayat Hussain Bhatti. His paternal uncle Kaifi (Kifayat Hussain Bhatti) was also involved in acting and directing. He has three sisters and an elder brother, Nadeem Abbas Bhatti, who worked in acting before moving into film production and distribution. From his first marriage, he has four children. After divorcing his first wife, he married actress Saba Hameed in 1993. His son from this marriage, Ali Abbas, is also a well-known actor. Through one of his sisters, he is also the uncle of actor and singer Aagha Ali. His father initially opposed his decision to enter the entertainment industry. Waseem Abbas first struggled in radio, where he was rejected, and later worked as an assistant director in stage productions while also acting. He made his television debut in 1978 in the PTV drama Ek Haqeeqat Ek Fasana, which marked the beginning of his successful career. In films, Waseem Abbas appeared in several Urdu and Punjabi productions.
