The program explores historical locations in the capital, such as Alto da Glória, the surroundings of the Paraná State College, the Passeio Público, and Praça 19 de Dezembro, revealing how yerba mate shaped the economy, politics, and urban development of Curitiba in the 19th century. During the conversation, heritage educator Rogério Bealpino explains how the economic cycle of yerba mate transformed Curitiba into an export center of great international importance. Historical figures such as Commander Francisco Fasce Fontana, the yerba mate producing families, and the Baron of Serro Azul himself helped build this history that is now part of our historical heritage. We also explored emblematic places linked to the yerba mate production history, such as the old Engenho da Glória (Glória Mill), the Palacete Leão (Leão Mansion), the Capela da Glória (Glória Chapel), as well as artistic works in Praça 19 de Dezembro (December 19th Square), where murals depict the economic cycles that marked Paraná — including yerba mate, muleteering, and coffee.
