Dr Bantu Wanda Mahlatsi, President of the United African Transformation (UAT), has described proceedings in the Western Cape High Court involving the Phala Phala matter as "deeply embarrassing" for President Cyril Ramaphosa. Mahlatsi accused Ramaphosa of interfering with parliamentary oversight and the separation of powers in an effort to avoid accountability. He also insisted that the impeachment committee would continue carrying out its constitutional responsibilities regardless of political pressure.
