Zámek v Praze na prodej – kolik stojí?
Owning a castle is a dream for many of us. And now there is even an opportunity to do so – Prague’s Veleslavín Castle is for sale. Unfortunately, unless you are a billionaire, it will probably remain a dream. But that is no reason why we should not take you on an exclusive tour of this picturesque castle in our video! What is so special about Veleslavín Castle? A long and recent history Like most historical buildings in Prague, Veleslavín also hides many joyful and moving stories: • The Baroque castle dating back to the 18th century is the work of the famous architect Kilian Ignác Dietzenhofer. • The construction was commissioned by Empress Elisabeth Christina, mother of Empress Maria Theresa. Over the centuries, the castle changed owners several times. • At the beginning of the 20th century, it was bought by doctors Leo Kosák and Oskar Fischer, who established a sanatorium for the treatment of nervous and lung diseases. Famous patients of the sanatorium included, among others, the first lady Charlotte Garrigue Masaryková, journalist Milena Jesenská, and architect Adolf Loos, who is behind the construction of the Winternitz Villa in Prague, to which we dedicated a separate video: • Luxusní vila s jedinečnou architekturou i ... • During the previous regime, Veleslavín served as a pulmonary clinic. • After the revolution, the chateau was home to Canadian Medical Care until 2018. • Currently, the building is slowly falling into disrepair. The exception is the castle gardens, which Prague 6 renovated and made available to the public in the summer of 2024. Castle for sale The state decided to auction the castle with all the buildings that belong to it and, of course, the garden. The starting price is 580 million and the highest bidder will get the property. Veleslavín is a cultural monument and is intended for public facilities – this means that projects in the field of education, culture or social issues can be created here. Transformation of the surroundings However, Veleslavín Castle is not only waiting for a new owner (in the event of a successful auction). Changes are also planned for its surroundings. The Buštěhradská railway leading from Kladno to Prague, which borders the castle gardens, is to be cancelled after the completion of the high-speed railway to Ruzyně Airport. Instead, a cycle path is to be created all the way to Stromovka. If you would like to learn more about the high-speed railway to the airport, watch our video: • Proč stále nemáme vlak na letiště? On the opposite side of the castle grounds, there is an old heating plant today – a large residential building is planned to replace it in the future.
