Le campane della Cattedrale di Bergamo

Best wishes for a happy Easter holiday to all followers! Thanks for the support Christianity landed in Bergamo (Italy) after the passage of some Roman prisoners of Eastern origin, condemned to work in the iron mines. Having won their freedom, they founded several Catholic communities, who found in Saint Vincent of Zaragoza the patron saint of their service. The city's first place of worship was dedicated to the martyr. Bergamo had two cathedrals from the 7th century, officiated by two different chapters. In the mid-15th century, the bishop called the architect Filarete to rebuild the main one, having the medieval structures surrounding it demolished. The foundation stone was laid on 3 May 1459. Work stopped in 1469 with the death of the architect and the appointment of the bishop as Patriarch of Venice. The building site was affected by the terrible fire that had devastated the city hall in 1513. On 4 August 1561, the second cathedral was demolished, all the canons lived from that day on in the single cathedral, completed in 1693. The provisional belfry was erected in 1690 and raised in 1850, when the project to build the second belfry was abandoned. The belfry had a concert of five bells in E-flat major. Now the concert has six bells, plus a seventh used by the chapter of canons: Original bells I and II cast by Francesco Comerio in 1793 Bells III and IV recast by Giovanni Battista Monzini 1837 V bell recast by Carlo Ottolina in 1966 VI bell added by De Poli in 2006 e' flat - f' - g' - a' flat - b' flat - c'' (b'' flat) The choir director invited me to document the bells after we climbed the tower together. Two weeks later I returned to film the ringing of the noon bells on Saturday with six bells, filmed before the beginning of Lent where they do not all ring. The beautiful interior is rich in works of art, starting with the silver urn containing the martyr's body. The solemn marble high altar was made in 1588; the apse completed in 1690 houses seven large paintings and a carved wooden choir. The cathedral has three valuable organs, two of which are connected to a huge console behind the altar. #church #foryou #bells #cinematic #concert #bell #italy #catholicchurch #vlogs #travel #landscape #view #snow
