Influence of additives like waxes on the abrasion resistance of coatings. A test method with an RCA abrasion tester (Wazau test) is shown. Two samples of paint on a glass substrate are tested with an abrasion test device. Paper containing abrasive particles is dragged over the paint surface under a defined pressure. After exposing the blank to 10 cm of paper strip, the paint is completely abraded. When testing the sample containing a wax to improve the abrasion resistance, it is exposed to 10 cm and 80 cm of paper strip. While the abrasion is barely visible after 10 cm, after 80 cm it is still better than the control sample after 10 cm. Learn more about Additives from BYK: https://www.byk.com/en
