Sparking a Lawsuit
The plaintiff says the defendant, his neighbor, entered his garage because he thought he smelled gas. He claims the defendant damaged the garage door and left without saying anything, so he is suing for the repairs. The defendant says he is part of a high-tech emergency response team, believed there was a gas leak, and opened the unlocked garage to prevent a possible explosion. He claims he accidentally knocked out an already damaged panel and offered to pay for the repair, but the plaintiff refuses to communicate with him.
