🚠 TELEFÉRICO DE MIRAFLORES (Vaivén) | Ya instalaron las cabinas!

Thursday, July 23, 2026. I visited the construction site of the Tourist Cable Car, officially named "Vaivén Miraflores," in the district of the same name. I began my journey along the Costa Verde bike path, heading south to north. Upon reaching the area near Redondo Beach, I documented the infrastructure of the lower station. In this area, the civil structure and the assembly of the two cabins, already suspended from their cables, stand out. These cabins remain protected while the general work and adjustment of the electromechanical system progress. The aerial view shows the steel cables that cross diagonally over the Costa Verde, ascending freely to a height of approximately 65 meters to connect the coastline with the boardwalk. This project is being promoted by the Municipality of Miraflores and executed by the Peruvian-Austrian consortium Zig Zag Teleféricos S.A.C., comprised of the international firm Doppelmayr, with a 100% private investment of US$10 million. Upon reaching the top, the upper station in Domodossola Park comes into view. Here we see the area where the cables enter the pulley and electromechanical traction system. Its design was integrated onto a platform in the ravine to avoid disturbing the green areas or obstructing the panoramic view. Large windows and a half-height wall completed with high-rise glass panels are visible, in addition to the access ramps and stairs. At the top of the station, there is an open space at the level of the boardwalk with wooden pillars and beams for its roof, which appears to be intended to function as a viewpoint. The system will operate with two swing-type cabins, each with a capacity for 15 passengers. They will also have special racks for transporting bicycles, surfboards, and wheelchairs, connecting both points in just 3 minutes of sustainable travel. It is estimated that this new infrastructure will benefit more than 500,000 people annually, boosting local tourism and directly integrating the urban area with the beach circuit. The projected fare will range between 15 and 20 soles for a round trip, with an approximate one-way fare of 7.50 to 10 soles. A few meters away, you can see the iconic La Rosa Náutica restaurant, built on its characteristic pier extending into the Pacific Ocean. Well, that's all for today's tour.
