In this teaching based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18, Pastor David Guevara explains how the hope of Christ's return transforms the way we face the death of a loved one. Believers also grieve and deeply feel the absence, but they can navigate grief sustained by a firm truth: Jesus died, rose again, and has the final word on death. Those who have departed are with Christ, and their bodies will be raised by the power of God when the Lord returns. The dead in Christ will rise first, the believers who are alive will be gathered to them, and all will be with the Lord forever. This promise allows the church to accompany those who suffer with sensitivity, presence, and words grounded in the gospel. The sermon also encourages us to share Christ with our families while we have the opportunity, remembering that today is the day of salvation and that our eternal hope is found only in Him.
