THE THREE CARTUSIAN VOCATIONS While the monks of the Grande Chartreuse and other Carthusian monasteries are generally well known to the general public, it is often overlooked that there are also lay monks, nuns of the heart, and lay nuns. This is why these three films were designed as an introduction to better understand the diversity of these very special vocations. Produced at the request of the Carthusian Order, they were filmed at the Monastery of the Grande Chartreuse, the Chartreuses of Portes and Sera St. Bruno in Italy, and the Chartreuses of Reillanne and Nonenque in the south of France. These monks and nuns share their heartfelt testimony about their callings, about God, their vocations, their struggles, and their hermitic lives with the Lord, which gives these three films a unique and captivating character.
