200 Meters | An Exploratory Mountaineering Expedition in the Eastern Karakoram

In the summer of 2016, The Himalayan Club organised an expedition to attempt the first ascent of Shahi Kangri (6934m) in the Eastern Karakoram mountain ranges. A five-member climbing team, Rajesh Gadgil, Vineeta Muni, Ratnesh Zaveri, Dinesh Korday and Divyesh Muni, accompanied by a young city lad (Roshmin Mahendru) keen for a new experience, set out together for this never-done-before task. Together, they explore the route to Shahi Kangri, and when they realised it wouldn't be possible, they attempted to scale the mighty Nya Kangri (6520m).The film “200 Meters” is a unique story of adventure, passion, struggle, perseverance and faith set in the breath-taking landscape of the rugged and beautiful Eastern Karakoram mountains. 101India.com documents the expedition, from the attempt at Shahi Kangri, to the 200 meters the team fell short of making the first ascent at Nya Kangri. This film received the award for “The Best Mountaineering Film” at the Indian Mountaineering Foundation Mountain Film Festival, 2018 and the “Sierra Nevada Award” in the foreign film section of the Mountain Film Festival in 2018.
