El boom minero argentino todavía no empezó: ¿cuándo arranca? | El Cronista Studio: Minería
👉 In this new episode of El Cronista Studio Mining, we are joined by Norberto Scilipoti, Sales Manager, AXION energy. With its own refinery, four distribution plants, and a network of distributors in the main mining provinces, the company analyzes how it supplies fuel and lubricants to an industry that operates 365 days a year, more than 1,000 km away and at high altitude. Participant: Norberto Scilipoti, Sales Manager, AXION energy Topics covered: ⛏️ 100 Projects, Only 25 in Production: Argentina currently has around 100 active mining projects, of which 75 are still in the exploration, pre-feasibility, or construction stages. The real boom in Argentine mining has yet to begin. 🚛 The Logistics Nobody Sees: AXION energy's refinery is located in Campana. The mining projects are more than 1,000 km away. To address this, the company developed a network of local distributors in San Juan, Catamarca, Salta, and Jujuy who handle the last mile, which in many cases involves two or three days of round-trip trucking. 🔧 The Wrong Lubricant Can Shut Down a Mine: Not all projects require the same product. Copper demands significantly more fuel than lithium, and each application requires a specific lubricant. A technical recommendation error can lead to unscheduled shutdowns that cost more than the lubricant itself. 🌿 Next-Generation Diesel: Modern mining equipment requires fuel with less than 10 parts per million of sulfur. Action Energy already produces all its diesel fuel to this standard, with cold-weather properties suitable for operating at high altitudes and in extreme weather conditions. 👷 Local Development as a Strategy: The company prioritizes hiring workers and operators from communities near its projects. Emergency response is much faster from the local area than from the central plants, and developing local suppliers is an integral part of the value proposition. 📝 A discussion about the real challenges of supplying the Argentine mining industry: logistics, product quality, on-site technical assistance, and why fuel is just one part of a much more complex service. 👉 El Cronista Studio is a premium content series featuring intimate and in-depth interviews with the key players transforming industry and technology. 🔔 Subscribe to our channel to access all episodes of El Cronista Studio and relive complete coverage of El Cronista Corporate Events. 📲 Find more information, exclusive coverage, and upcoming events at 👉 https://www.cronista.com/eventos/ ✍🏻 We make economics easier for you. https://www.cronista.com/ 📲 Instagram: / cronistacom 📲 Facebook: / cronistacom 📲 Twitter: / cronistacom 📲 TikTok: / cronistacom 📲 LinkedIn: / cronistacom
