#43 ONE STEP Closer to SELF SUFFICIENCY on Our HOMESTEAD in PORTUGAL | Back to Basics
Not too long ago, this was just an idea. A slower life… closer to nature. Living with the land, not against it. Following the seasons instead of fighting them. Like many of you, we started with inspiration. Watching videos, dreaming, questioning what really matters… and figuring out what step to take next. Now, we’re here, one step closer to self-sufficiency. 🌿 Support our work: https://buymeacoffee.com/backtobasics... In this episode, we take a big step forward on the farm with a new tool, a rotary hoe, helping us scale up the vegetable garden and bring life back into tired, depleted soil. With the help of compost from a local farmer, we begin rebuilding the earth beneath our feet, turning dry, lifeless ground into something rich and full of potential. It’s hard work. Breaking ground, clearing weeds, layering compost, and working it back into the soil, again and again. A process that’s as physical as it is rewarding. My grandfather used a rotary hoe too… but nothing like this. This one pushes back, a full-body workout every step of the way. But slowly, bed by bed, things start to take shape. New soil. New growth. A new chapter.
