#44 Bedroom Insulation Renovation TIMELAPSE in Our 100 Year Old Stone House in Portugal
Ep 44 Special Extra Episode: Bedroom Renovation Time-Lapse 🌿 Support our work: https://buymeacoffee.com/backtobasics... Today’s video is a little different, our usual weekly update is coming tomorrow. This is a full time-lapse of a simple bedroom renovation, transforming a cold, damp space into a warm place to get through winter. When we bought this abandoned farm in the mountains of Portugal, the old farmhouse hadn’t been lived in for over 20 years… and it showed. At first, we made do, focusing on the land while slowly improving the house. But one thing became clear quickly, we needed heat. After installing a wood burner, the next challenge was insulation. The north-facing wall, 80cm of solid granite against the hillside, was constantly cold and damp. So we rebuilt it from the inside using a moisture barrier, insulation, and block work. Then came the floor… Cold enough to feel like standing on ice. With no insulation beneath the tiles, we added a simple temporary solution using a moisture barrier, insulation foam, and OSB boards, just enough to make this space liveable until a full renovation. This is a small step, but an important one. If you’re new here, subscribe to follow the journey. And if you’ve been watching for a while, share this with someone who’d enjoy it.
