Making Paper At Home! (without a mold or deckle)

Hi there! Welcome to my first official YouTube video! I recently have been getting into paper making by recycling some old papers I've been holding onto. Supplies: Water Bottle Scissors (or if you have a paper shredder) Paper Towels Towel or Sheet Tin foil (or parchment paper) Plastic lid, or other frame (optional) Warm Water Hair dryer Whatever you want to add to decorate your paper! Dried plants, glitter, string, etc. Patience Steps: 1. You'll want your paper to be cut into small pieces, the smaller the easier to turn into pulp. If you have a cross-cut paper shredder that would be perfect! 2. Put your paper shreds into your waterbottle (or mixing container of choice) 3. Add warm water until paper is slightly covered. 4. Make sure cap is sealed, and start shaking! You'll want to do this for a few minutes, you'll be able to see the paper start to separate. Keep shaking until you are satisfied with the consistency! I like mine to be a bit more chunky for the texture. 5. Place a paper towel onto your mold. I'm using a plastic container lid that has square indents. If you don't have anything you can use for a mold, you might want to do this outside or on a surface you don't mind getting soaked. 6. Pour out the pulp onto the paper towel and flatten it out to a desired thickness. This is something you can always experiment with as well! 7. Take another paper towel, and press on top to absorb excess water. You might want to repeat this process a couple times. (I usually save these paper towels to reuse as well) 8. You can either leave these out in the sun to dry, or do the following steps to help the sheets dry quicker. 9. Pick up the paper towel with the pulp on it, and move it over to a towel or sheet. Cover with another paper towel, and fold the towel/sheet to press gently to absorb any remainder water. 10. Flip your paper onto a surface to dry. You can use tinfoil, or in my case I started using this metal mesh rack I had. 11. Start blowdrying! This can take a bit so I recommend putting on your favorite show or podcast to make the time go by a little quicker. Watching paper dry is pretty satisfying though haha! I flip mine back and forth once it starts getting more dry and sturdier. 12. You can place your sheets in a heavy book overnight to help flatten them out if you noticed any warping! And there you go, you made your own paper! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments below! Thank you for watching! Music: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free...
