Suppé - Poet and Peasant Overture (Ocarina of Time Soundfont)

As requested by Matt Fabbs, here's a rendition of Franz Von Suppe’s Poet and Peasant Overture. Though Suppé enjoyed great popularity during his time through the composition of several dozen operettas, his popularity waned over the years and is now a rather obscure composer. Still, a few overtures from said operettas have proven to be an exception, mostly due to their frequent use in cartoons and other forms of media, and are sometimes performed live. The Poet and Peasant is an interesting case, as its music was arranged posthumously in order to be heard as a performable operetta. As is usual for Suppé's music, only the overture is well-known in any form today, owing much of its popularity to its use in 20th-century cartoons. The overture has a surprisingly stormy, though ultimately optimistic nature. A peaceful and pastoral reverie serves as a quite extensive introduction, almost half of the overture, and is perhaps its most beautiful segment (0:57-3:18).
