Pascal’s Law - Triangular Wedge Proof

In this fluid mechanics lesson, Pascal’s law is derived using a triangular differential fluid wedge. By applying force equilibrium to the vertical, horizontal, and inclined surfaces, we demonstrate why pressure at a point acts equally in every direction: px=pz=ps The derivation also explains why pressure forces act normal to a surface and why the wedge’s weight becomes negligible as the fluid element approaches an infinitesimal size.
