Her goal: to become a musician. With her distinctive voice and vibrato, she stood out at the Los Angeles High School of Performing Arts, where she studied voice and cello. She first gained wider public recognition with an appearance on the talent show “Star Search.” By the time she recorded her debut album “Immortal,” Beth was already heavily addicted to alcohol and drugs. Her second studio album, “Screamin' For My Supper,” made her even more famous; she appeared on shows like David Letterman, where she performed her hit “L.A. Song.” In a musical, she plays Janis Joplin, a role that seems tailor-made for her. After several stints in rehab, Beth Hart reflects on her toughest times on her third album, “Leave The Light On.” The album is a hit in the U.S., and she also begins to gain traction in Europe. In the years that followed, she worked with Slash and Joe Bonamassa, among others, and accompanied other greats like Jeff Beck and Buddy Guy. In 2018, Beth Hart performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The impressive gig was also released as a concert film. Grammy-nominated Beth Hart has recorded numerous deeply personal albums and cover albums (including a tribute to Led Zeppelin) and moves listeners with her extraordinary voice and the way she confronts her mental struggles and her history with drugs. 📸 Thumbnail photos: WDR/Thomas von der Heiden #BethHart #blues #Rockpalast ----- 🎬 More Rockpalast: ► Rockpalast in the ARD Media Library: https://www.ardmediathek.de/sendung/r... ► Rockpalast website and archive: https://www.wdr.de/tv/rockpalast/
