Yoshi can interact with these beings by, for example, picking them up on his back or, classically, examining them with his tongue to taste and detect their reactions, which in turn triggers effects such as flowers growing or the creation of floating bubbles. By cleverly combining these creature-specific abilities, puzzles can be solved and hidden paths unlocked in the compact yet deep levels. Alongside these new mechanics, familiar and popular maneuvers such as fluttering, egg throwing, and ground pounding are, of course, also part of Yoshi's repertoire.
