In the 16th century, a SLAVE of African origin became the first Black professor in Spain and the entire West, specifically at the University of Granada. Juan Latino is known as the slave professor. An unprecedented feat in the European Renaissance. His name, JUAN LATINO or JUAN DE SESSA, demonstrated that with effort and intelligence, he was able to change his social status. A former slave of the Count of Sesa, at the bottom of Spanish society at the time, he rose through effort and intelligence to a professorship at the University of Granada. He was the first Spaniard of African origin to form a mixed marriage with Ana de Carleval, fully integrating into Granada society. The first Spanish writer and poet of Black origin. Admired by Quevedo, Cervantes, and Lope. This is his incredible life. A legend of overcoming difficulties, a story that should not be forgotten.
