The seventh Gundam, belonging to the second batch of RX-78 series developed during the One Year War. From the design stage, this unit was developed with the assumption that it would be equipped with additional armor under the FSWS plan, and is equipped with mounting latches and optional interface ports in various locations, while the cockpit features a prototype all-around monitor. The base unit itself also boasts high performance comparable to that of the Gundam NT-1, with magnetic coating as standard and sub-thrusters located throughout. The backpack follows the Type 78 backpack structure but is stacked to ensure high thrust and reliability, and the six verniers on the back can be controlled individually. It also uses a block structure integrated with the chest unit, and functions as a dockable terminal for various additional equipment. Development of this unit began towards the end of the One Year War, but the war ended while it was still in the design stage, and it was never deployed in combat as the basic frame was barely assembled. However, development continued after the war, and by the end of Universal Century 0080, it had reached the stage where it could undergo mobility tests.
