What is a brand touchpoint?

Recently I was asked by a client to explain what a brand touchpoint was and it caught me off-guard at how a term that seems so obvious to me was a mystery to my client. You forget that just because you deal with certain words and phrases every day, that they are not common terms to everyone. Hearing this question took me back to one of the main reasons for starting this channel. To educate non-designers, to help them understand the processes and terminology of brand and design.
