Laurie Shaver, married name Laurie Filmer, took the stand on Thursday afternoon, giving the timelines of events that led up to the fatal shooting of her husband, Michael Shaver. Laurie immediately started to get emotional when she first talked about meeting Michael in the 7th grade. She went on to talk about their lives together and when it all fell apart. She also talked about her dating life before rekindling with Michael later in life. His body was discovered buried beneath a concrete slab in Laurie Shaver’s backyard. In a shocking twist, the couple’s daughter confessed to the crime, claiming she shot her father to protect her mother, who allegedly said he was abusing her at the time. However, in opening statements, Laurie Shaver’s attorney said her lover, Jereme Townshend, shot and killed Michael.
