Documentary 3 Days "A Glass of Comfort, 72 Hours in Yongsan Pojangmacha Village" 20131124 In the summer of 2012, the Pojangmacha Village took root here. The stalls were once in danger of being demolished during redevelopment. However, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, concerned about a repeat of the 2009 Yongsan tragedy, which left five evictees and one riot police officer dead, intervened. After negotiations with merchants and the redevelopment association, the Pojangmacha Village was temporarily closed until around 2015. Day and night, the Pojangmacha Village is a gathering place for those who have regained their livelihoods under the harsh Seoul skies, as well as those in need of a respite. The nights of Yongsan Pojangmacha Village, where people comfort and coexist, are illuminated by the moon of coexistence. The mother-daughter duo runs a pojangmacha, and 22-year-old Moon Jun-young is a regular customer every week. When he, who lived alone with his mother, lost her and found himself in a desperate situation, the landlady comforted him like a mother. Eight years ago, she belatedly entered the competitive world of life after her husband's business went bankrupt, and she's been going through a difficult time. She finds solace in comforting those in need. Park Seong-beom, now in his sixth year of running a street food stall, works tirelessly, except for once every three months. He's the breadwinner for a family of five: two children and his elderly mother, who suffers from dementia. He struggled in a street stall in front of the station, without even a windbreak, and at one point, he worried that even that might disappear. It's a cramped space, cramped for five or six people, but to him, this place is as good as a proper store. Park Seong-beom has found his footing.
