The Trap of "Good Enough“

👉 Explore Tale’s Edge, playtests & join the WILDS → https://linktr.ee/talesedge – We redesigned our main character four different times. Not because we couldn’t draw her, but because we couldn’t figure out who she truly was. In this video, we break down how “good enough” slowly poisoned our game, why hiring experienced AAA talent didn’t magically solve our problems, and the brutal difference between having references, and conviction. We're talking about, How you hold onto a vision when every talented person around you is pulling it in a different direction, and at what point do you finally admit the problem might be you? We go through every version of Red Riding Hood we built over the last two and a half years. The compromises, passive acceptance, identity crisis, the failed shortcuts, and the moment everything finally clicked. Making a main character isn’t really about clothes, faces, or silhouettes. It’s about whether players believe a character should exist, or not. And it turns out, that’s a lot harder than we thought. – Instagram: Red Sixteen Interactive (@r16interactive) X: R16 Team (@r16interactive) — #gamedev #talesedge #parkour #environment #indiegames #devlog #gamedesign #actionrpg #rpgmovement #traversal #indiedev
