Energy Minister Visits Port of Cromarty Firth | Powering the UK’s Floating Wind Future

Port of Cromarty Firth welcomed UK Energy Minister Michael Shanks to Invergordon to see first-hand the Port’s role in Scotland and the UK’s clean energy future. Following confirmation of more than £55 million in FLOWMIS funding, the Port’s Phase 5 expansion will support the development of a custom-built floating offshore wind integration facility. The project will help provide the deep-water infrastructure needed to assemble, integrate and pre-commission the next generation of floating offshore wind turbines. With its deep, sheltered waters, experienced supply chain and strategic position within the Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, Port of Cromarty Firth is ready to play a leading role in delivering floating offshore wind at scale, supporting skilled jobs, regional growth, national energy security and the transition to net zero. This is a major step forward for the Port, the Highlands and the UK’s renewable energy ambitions.
