(Quran 2:195) The Ministry of Interior announces that, following meticulous security monitoring and surveillance operations, the State Security Service has thwarted a terrorist plot and apprehended a network comprised of five Kuwaiti citizens and one non-Kuwaiti whose citizenship was revoked. They have also identified and located 14 fugitives abroad: five Kuwaiti citizens, five non-Kuwaiti whose citizenship was revoked, two Iranian nationals, and two Lebanese nationals. Their affiliation with the banned terrorist organization Hezbollah has been confirmed. The network was planning assassinations targeting state figures and leaders and recruiting individuals to carry out these operations. The defendants confessed to espionage and joining a terrorist organization, and to their readiness to carry out assigned tasks aimed at assassinating state figures and leaders and harming the country's higher interests. They also admitted to receiving advanced military training abroad at the hands of members and leaders of the terrorist organization. This training included the use of weapons and explosives, surveillance techniques, and assassination skills, constituting a grave act of treason against the nation and a blatant violation of the requirements of loyalty and belonging. The defendants have been referred to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary legal measures against them, while security authorities continue their investigations to pursue anyone proven to be linked to or cooperating with this cell or any other terrorist organizations. The Ministry of Interior affirms that the security, sovereignty, and national stability of the State of Kuwait are inviolable and non-negotiable. It emphasizes that the actions of this cell constitute a grave criminal act and high treason against the nation, as they directly targeted Kuwait's security, symbols, and leaders, and attempted to undermine its stability. Security forces will stand firm against anyone who dares to compromise the country's security or cooperate with terrorist organizations, and will take the strictest legal measures against anyone proven to be involved, without leniency or exception.
