If so, why doesn't it make a simple move: announce its readiness for talks, end its attacks deep into Russia, and propose a unilateral ceasefire? In this article, I discuss what Zelensky could do if he truly wanted to put Putin's image and political footing against him. If Ukraine were to declare a ceasefire and Russia continued to attack, the whole world would see who is rejecting peace. The problem is that Zelensky isn't doing this—and, in my opinion, he won't, because he fears such a move might backfire. I also touch on the changing approach in Europe. Bulgaria is announcing an end to arms shipments to Ukraine. Slovakia, following a change of government, also halted military support earlier this year. Hungary has long pursued its own policy and refuses to become dependent on the Ukrainian narrative. Meanwhile, Poland continues to behave as if it were obligated to finance another country's war without accounting, without conditions, and without any real debate about Polish interests. Is Ukraine doomed to failure? Is there still a point in sending more weapons? Should Poland stop handing out equipment and start issuing invoices? And why are both the Civic Coalition (KO) and the Law and Justice party (PiS) responsible for a policy of subservience towards Ukraine? This is discussed in today's article.
