North Macedonia during World War II (1941 – 1944)

What about North Macedonia during WW2? The region of what is today North Macedonia was part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. After the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia this kingdom was partitioned by the Axis Powers. A small part in the west went to the Italians. The largest part came under Bulgarian administration. The Bulgarian occupation of Vardar Macedonia ended in 1944 when the country switched sides. The Germans now installed a puppet government named: Independent Macedonia. Eventually, the Macedonian partisans liberated the country. History Hustle presents: North Macedonia during World War II (1941 – 1944).
