This video deals with the first love marriage in Bengal, which happened between Kadambini Devi, the first woman doctor and Dwarakanath Ganguly. This video may be treated as the biography or story of Lady doctor Kadambini Ganguly (কাদম্বিনী গাঙ্গুলী জীবনী), totally in Bengali. Though Kadambini devi succeeded to have higher education , her husband Dwarakanath played the crucial role behind her success. She was born on 18 July 1861 at Jessore, Bengal in British India. Her father was Brahmo reformer Braja Kishore Bose who was the Headmaster at Bhagalpur in Bihar. She started her education at Banga Mahila Vidyalaya. Later from Bethun School, she became the first woman to pass the University of Calcutta entrance examination in 1878. It was partly in recognition of her efforts that Bethune College first introduced FA (First Arts). She passed F.A. in 1880. Then in 1882, She and Chandramukhi Basu became the first graduates from Bethune College, and in the process became the first female graduates in the country and in the entire British Empire. Then she achieved LMS certificate from Calcutta Medical College and became the first Bengali lady doctor. It is Dwarakanath who was always behind her every success. Later, Dwarakanath sent her to England for higher education in medical science. Kadambini devi returned home achieving three diploma degrees ---- LRCP, LRCS and LFPS, just in three months and five days. Thus she became an icon in the eyes of all Indian women in respect of Women Education. It is said by the critics and learned persons that Kadambini Ganguly became an unparalleled character in India chiefly because of her love marriage with the social worker and Brahmo reformer Darakanath Gangopadhyay, It is generally called the first love marriage in Bengal. . ** Remember, facts are not matched with the images provided in the video. .
