So war sie, die Dampflok. Der Wechsel zu Diesel- und E-Loks

A DB film from 1967 about the generational transition to diesel and electric locomotives forms the main part. The Easter '94 steam train event in and around Berlin and the "Lößnitz Dachshund" round out the program. We'll show a film from the German Federal Railway, entirely without text, in which they officially bid farewell to steam locomotives and declare them obsolete. The steam locomotive, the black racer with its flowing, white mane of smoke and steam, can no longer keep pace with the trend toward greater efficiency and higher performance. Steam locomotives are still very popular with fans today. We'll show pictures from the Easter 1994 steam train event in and around Berlin and from the narrow-gauge railway from Radebeul to Radeburg.
