First Time This Small Square Baler Has Been Used in 25+ Years

In this Mahner Farms video, I’m small square baling my first crop hay for the 2026 season using the MFWD Deutz Fahr 6806 tractor and a Deutz Fahr HD460 small square baler. After cutting and raking this hay in the previous two videos, it was finally time to bale it up into dry feed hay. Between the two fields, I ended up making about 80 small square bales of high-quality, young-cut first crop hay. This hay is a nice mixture of timothy grass, red clover, and alfalfa, making it good-quality dry hay with plenty of feed value. The video includes real tractor and baler audio, field footage, and some talking as I explain what I’m doing while baling hay on the farm. This video also features 4K drone footage of the Deutz Fahr tractor and small square baler working through the hay fields, along with shots of the fresh small square bales after they come out of the baler. At the end, I show the finished hay stacked on one of my new flat rack hay wagons, ready to be hauled and stored. This is another step in my 2026 hay season here on Mahner Farms, following along with the full process of making first crop hay—from cutting with the discbine, to raking, to finally small square baling. If you enjoy farming videos, haymaking, small square baling, Deutz Fahr tractors, old farm equipment, drone footage, and real Wisconsin farm work, this video gives a close look at making dry first crop feed hay the old-school way. #MahnerFarms #DeutzFahr #Wisconsin
