Heat Stroke While Cutting Second Crop on Independence Day

In this Mahner Farms video, we are cutting second crop hay for the 2026 season using my newly purchased Deutz DX90 tractor hooked to the fully rebuilt Deutz-Allis SM70 RC discoing. This was the first real hay-cutting job for the DX90 on our farm, and it was put straight to work mowing six different hay fields during an unexpected dry stretch over the Fourth of July. The day started with my dad running the discbine, and then I took over to keep making progress while the weather finally cooperated. With rain in the forecast changing suddenly, we had no choice but to make hay while the sun shined and take advantage of the short window to get second crop down. The big challenge in this video was the extreme heat. The heat index was over 100 degrees with high humidity, and the Deutz DX90 is a cab tractor with no working AC and only one window that opens, making for a brutal day of cutting hay. After several hours in the tractor, I ended up with minor heat stroke and had to quit early, then come back the next morning to finish the job. This video features 4K drone footage, static field shots, and plenty of real tractor and discbine audio as the Deutz DX90 and Deutz-Allis SM70 RC cut through second crop hay. If you enjoy haymaking, old Deutz tractors, discbine mowing, farm equipment, small family farms, and real Wisconsin farming, this video gives a close look at what it takes to get hay made when the weather finally gives you a chance. #MahnerFarms #DeutzFahr #Wisconsin
